San Francisco loves its coffee – and so do we!

San Francisco has a deep and rich coffee roasting and café history. Iconic American coffee brands like Folgers, Hills Brothers and MJB were born here in the late 19th century. Today, it is estimated that over half a million cups of coffee are served to our 800,000 residents daily.

                                                

Why so much coffee? Some say it is a perfect mix of environment.

The Mediterranean climate – moist mild winters and dry summers promote a warm and social beverage – others have mentioned that coffee is a fuel for creativity, evident in how many great companies are founded here annually. We also have world class higher education choices like UC Berkeley and Stanford that bring many new students thirsty for knowledge and long study sessions. Our local water comes from the clean Sierra snowmelt that is fed 170 miles downhill to our faucets. Our dairy choices include local and organic family farms whose milk is more flavorful, creating smoother and creamier lattes. Whatever, the reason, we just think coffee taste better in San Francisco.
